Last week we were joined on site by children from Whitchurh CE Primary school. The children wee keen to get stuck in helping to expand the hedge line along the edge of the public footpath.
After a quite demonstration, they set to work and planted around 200 trees between them. There was also an ongoing worm count, with groups keeping track of just how many wriggly worms they had counted in the hole for each tree.
As well as planting a second row of trees, they also filled in gaps in last years planting, where some of the trees have sadly not made it through the year.
However, it was nice to see how many of last years trees have survived the deer and winter floods, and with new stakes and covers we hope they’ll continue to grow into a nice new hedge.
Thank You Maple class and we hope you’ll come back and see how your trees are growing.
